The billiard
A billiard is the upright bowl and the straight shank most smokers learn first. Asikyan’s versions stay slim. Billiard 370/23 is rusticated, with a colored ebonite stem; 391/24 and 215/22 keep the same upright geometry. The chamber is drilled true. The walls are even. There is no factory bulk at the transition.
The Lovat
A Lovat is a billiard with a longer shank and usually a saddle stem. Lovat 492/26 is a straight example from the stock album: rusticated honeycomb on the bowl, a smooth rim, an engraved band at the bit. The extra shank cools the smoke a little and changes the balance in the hand. It is still a billiard family pipe — not a bent.
The Liverpool
A Liverpool keeps a tapered stem on a longer shank. Liverpool 441/24 in the 2024 archive is that line in Asikyan’s vocabulary. If you want the classic bowl and a longer, quieter draw without a saddle bit, this is the shape to look for. All three share the same stamp and the same Yerevan drilling.
